  • Justice must prevail! We demand accountability for Esther and all women and girls who have suffered injustice. This cannot be another case swept under the rug!

The government must take immediate action—arrest the perpetrators and ensure they face the full weight of the law. We will not stop until justice is served for Esther, for Okpella women, and for every girl whose voice has been silenced.

Dear Mumsy B,
(As we lovingly call you),

This weekend, as you are laid to rest, I have chosen not to mourn, but to celebrate the extraordinary woman who shaped my life and the lives of countless others.

Many years ago, I had the privilege of meeting you, and since that moment, my life changed in ways I can scarcely put into words. You were more than a mentor; you were a guiding light, a beacon of inspiration for me and for the many young women who had the fortune to learn from you. Your laughter was deep, genuine, and infectious, leaving a lasting impression on all who encountered it.

I will never forget my visit to the Girls' Power Initiative (GPI), the organization you founded. There, I witnessed firsthand your commitment to empowering young girls and transforming their lives. The programs you spearheaded were not only impactful, they were life-changing. It was during that visit that I knew, deep within me, I had to follow in your footsteps and replicate the work you had so brilliantly begun.

Today, I am proud to say that Vision Spring Initiatives (VSI) now runs a Girl Impact Project, directly inspired by GPI. To date, we have reached over a thousand girls and graduated more than 800, ensuring they find their voices and demand accountability in sexual and reproductive justice, just as you always taught us to do.

Your leadership and dedication to the development of young people, especially young women, was evident every time we met. You spoke truth to power, always striving to make the world a better place for us all. You gave so much of yourself to us, and for that, we are eternally grateful.

So today, as I reflect on your incredible legacy, I choose to celebrate you, Mumsy B. Your spirit will continue to live on in all of us who were privileged to have known you.

Rest in power, Mumsy B. Trust that I, along with many others, will continue to carry your vision forward. As one of your devoted mentees, Her Excellency Dorothy Akenova, so beautifully put it, "Feminists do not die."
